You Can Exercise in Your Car
Many of us spend lots of time sitting in our car. You may be out for a long road trip or a daily trip to the office. You may not notice sitting too long can affect your muscle tone negatively and increase your stress.
It may sound ridiculous, but there are exercises that you can do inside the car to reduce stiffness and refresh sore muscles. Just keep your eyes on the road to avoid accidents.
To release shoulder and neck tension, do some shoulder shrugs. Raise your shoulders. Hold that position for a few seconds, and then lower them again; do this 10 to 15 times. As for your buttocks, keep it from getting numb by contracting the muscles in your right butt cheek for five seconds or so. Relax, and then do the same with the left butt cheek. You can alternate butt squeezes for a few minutes. To wrap up, contract both cheeks for around 10 seconds.
To strengthen you inner thighs, place a small pillow between your knees. Squeeze the pillow with your knees 10 to 15 times. Aside from this, hold the steering wheel with both hands then push it. Do this around 10 to 15 times. Then lead forward slightly, grip the wheel at the side, and pull. Hold that stretch for five to eight seconds. These exercises will tone your arm muscles.
You can also work on your abdominal muscles. Inhale and contract your abdominal muscles as if you are trying to touch the bottom of your ribs to your lower abdomen; again, do this 10 to 15 times. Finally, do not forget to conclude your in-car exercises with deep breaths. Deep breathing helps take stress away. Now who says driving and staying fit cannot be done at the same time!
